Are you sure you want to learn in a manual car? automatic is much quicker and easier..

Within the next few years there will be fewer and fewer manual cars manufactured. Most people will drive automatic cars on the UK's increasingly busy roads.

If you have a genuine interest in cars and how they work, then maybe go for manual. If not, we really do recommend automatic!

How many lessons will I need in a manual car?

This is the question we are asked more often than any other. Many people are misled by friends and family, who may have learnt to drive several years ago. Back then 25 lessons was about average.

Nowadays the roads are much busier and the driving test is more demanding. The test is also longer, which obviously allows more time and more opportunities to make mistakes as the test unfolds.

Most beginners need around 40 hours of professional tuition in a manual car if they have never driven before. In an automatic it's far less, and if you've already had a few lessons in a manual car you'll probably only need a few automatic lessons before being able to take your test and get mobile.
